An absolute classic and so easy to make!

You will need:
1 tablespoon butter
½ cup raisins or sultanas
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¾ cup soft brown sugar
6 cooking apples
Preheat oven (400f, 200c, gas mark 6).
Cut off the top of the apple and remove some of the inside of the remaining apple part.
Mix together the other ingredients and spoon into each apple.
Replace the apple top and place in a tray filled with a quarter of an inch of water. Cover with foil and bake for 15-30 minutes.
Uncover, pour away the water and continue to cook about 15 minutes further until tender.
* You may use mincemeat, dates, honey, chopped nuts, golden syrup or cranberries as alternative fillings.
